Who we are.
An initiative of the Husseini Islamic Center of Orlando, run by a small team of volunteer designers, managers, and coordinators, and a shared bench of Program Hands. Nearly every role is volunteer. Every adult on the floor is vetted the same way.
How the work is organized
Three people, each with a distinct background, who weave Islamic principles into program design down to the smallest detail. The creative engine behind the framework.
One manager, one program, full ownership. Runs the coordinators and brings the design to life on the floor.
Runs the sessions and the five-minute closeout, and keeps the program guide up to date with mothers and Amana admin.
Set-up, build, teardown, and direct time with the kids. Shared across programs so no one is stretched thin.
Two hires for Same-Day Tutoring: on-site after school, for the test that's tomorrow.
One manager owns one program. Coaches run the room. Program Hands are shared across programs so no one is stretched thin. Designers hold the framework for all of it.
The same four things, for everyone
Before a first shift, paid or volunteer, coach or cake-cutter.
Every adult on the floor, through Checkr. Amana stores only the status and the renewal date, never identity documents.
Before a volunteer runs a session alone, with the person HIC designates.
Forty-five minutes, before the first shift. Renewed every season.
At least one certified adult in every room, every session.
The Husseini Islamic Center of Orlando
Amana is an initiative of the Husseini Islamic Center of Orlando, a Shia Ithna-Asheri community in Sanford, just north of Orlando. Every Amana program happens at the center, in its gym and classrooms, on its playground and its field. It's the same place our families come to pray, learn and gather, and those values carry into everything we do with your children.
Every program has a living guide, written with its coaches. Anything it quotes or dramatizes is reviewed there before it reaches a child.
