Amanah

Something precious entrusted to your care.

Our children are our greatest asset. Our faith is our life. Amana House exists to bring the two together, for children ages 4 to 14, at the Husseini Islamic Center of Orlando.

At the Husseini Islamic Center

Amana is an initiative of the Husseini Islamic Center of Orlando, a Shia Ithna-Asheri community in Sanford, just north of Orlando. Every Amana program happens at the center, in its gym and classrooms, on its playground and its field. It's the same place our families come to pray, learn and gather, and those values carry into everything we do with your children.

What guides us

What we believe

Entrusted, not enrolled.

When a family brings us a child, they're placing someone precious in our care. We try to remember that in every decision, big or small.

On purpose.

We plan each program with care before it ever reaches a child, so the time children spend with us is time well spent.

Faith is the floor.

Islam isn't something we add on. It's the ground everything here stands on, from how we play to how we treat one another.

Parents are capable adults.

You know your child best. We'll be open and honest with you, and we'll work alongside you as partners.

Amanah

Your child spends fifteen hours a week somewhere other than home or school. Amana is built so those hours build the same child you are.

Five outcomes

The whole child

Every parent's objective, treated as one job, not five competing ones.Faith, character, confidence, academics, friendship. Every parent's objective, treated as one job, not five competing ones.

Passes tomorrow's test with a tutor who was there today.

Amana House is an initiative of the Husseini Islamic Center of Orlando, run by a small team of volunteer designers, managers, and coordinators, and a shared bench of Program Hands. Nearly every role is volunteer; paid roles are limited to select Program Hands and two tutors. Every adult on the floor has a background check, an Islamic knowledge check, and youth safety training before a first shift, and at least one first-aid-certified adult is in every room, every session. Anything we quote or dramatize is reviewed in the program's guide before it reaches a child.
